Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

• Perform a thorough neurological examination and take a complete history
• Apply the American Academy of Neurology guidelines for the management of common neurological disorders
• Assess relevant treatment options and apply them as appropriate
• Analyze appropriate and cost-effective imaging and laboratory studies and their indications and contraindications when evaluating a patient
• Predict and manage patient expectations regarding prognosis and rehabilitation
• Identify methods, support, and resources for patient self-management for those patients with chronic neurological conditions, for example multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease
